5 Reasons I Love to Read
Happy National Book Lovers Day!
You are reading Blonde Bibliotaph, so you already know that I am a true book lover, and you probably are too!
In honor of this special day, I'm listing my top five reasons that I love books:
1. Books are better than TV/movies - Books dive so much deeper into people, places, and things than movies or T.V. shows do. Books don't have time constraints, so they can give so much more detail and development than other methods of storytelling. There's a reason people always say "the book was better!"
2. It is literally impossible to have nothing to read - There are pretty much an infinite number of books out there. There are new books published just about every day. If you're not interested in new releases, you could pick a book that is 10, 100, or even 1,000 years old!
3. Books are so accessible - You have so many choices when it comes to reading books! You could read a physical book or you can read on the go on your phone or tablet. You can go to a specialty indie book store or pick up a new release while you're at the grocery store. You actually don't even need to buy books at all - public libraries have more books than one person could ever read in a lifetime for FREE!
4. There's less distraction - A T.V. show really has to be something special to hold my attention. If not, I'm on my phone, computer, or working around the house and really just listening. When I'm reading, it's much more difficult for me to become distracted. I'm using my brain and paying attention and I don't really care who's posting on Instagram.
5. Books have always been there for me - No matter what kind of day I'm having - good, bad, end of the world - a book is always able to make it a little bit better. Even if I'm having the best day ever, I always look forward to going home and relaxing for a few minutes before bed with whatever I'm reading. If I'm having a day where everything goes wrong and it feels like the sky is falling, I just have to make it through until I get home and can escape all of my problems by reading. Growing up as an only child, I often didn't have anyone to play with, so a lot of times the characters in my books felt like friends. How could I be lonely when I was laughing at whatever silly thing Junie B. Jones did or going wherever the Magic Tree House took me?
I'm going to stop my list at five things because I'm pretty sure I could write about how much I love reading forever.
I hope that you all have a very happy National Book Lovers Day! If you read anything special to celebrate, tell me in the comments!
