I received a copy of this eBook from Penguin Random House's First to Read program in exchange for a review. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Royals is the story of 16 year old Daisy Winters, a normal girl from Florida, whose life is turned upside down when her sister gets engaged to the Prince of Scotland. When the paparazzi start following Daisy and her family, she packs up and ships off to Scotland, where she meets the royal family. Even though she doesn't fit the royal image at all, Daisy manages to make friends (and maybe even something more!) with the interesting characters she meets during her time abroad.
This was such a cute book! I am not a huge fan of Young Adult, but after reading some more serious books, I needed something light and fun, and this is exactly what I was looking for.
While we all know that there is no royal family of Scotland, I think the author writes the book in such a way that we don't mind suspending our disbelief because everything is so tongue-in-cheek. It's not the deepest or most provocative book, but the characters are likable and the story draws you in.
This is the first in what is supposed to be a series, and I am definitely interested in reading future books about the Winters' family and their royal adventures. If you like YA or you're interested in a palate cleanser between darker reads, I think you will really enjoy this book!
