Book of the Month Club

For those of you who aren't familiar with the Book of the Month Club, it's a subscription service for books!

To become a member, you pay a $14.99 monthly fee.  This fee includes a hardback copy of a brand new release and shipping.  If you want to add an extra book in with your shipment, that book will cost $9.99.

At the beginning of every month, the new selections will be announced.  If you don't like any of the books, you can choose not to make a selection that month and you won't be charged.  If you don't do anything with your account, you will be charged $14.99 as a credit towards a book in another month.

I generally shy away from these monthly membership type programs, but I was enticed into trying by using a friend's special discount code for a free book.  (Book genre I like best?  Free!)

I've been following Book of the Month on Instagram for a while now, and it seems that they usually pick books that end up being popular with readers and receiving good reviews.  You also can't argue with their prices.  Less than $15 for a brand new hardcover book is a fantastic price, and $9.99 is practically unheard of!

If you are the type of person who likes to read new releases as soon as they come out, this might be a great option for you.

This will be my first time ordering from them, so I can't give a final verdict yet either way.  I want to see what condition the books arrive in and how fast items are shipped.  I am also interested in hearing if any of you have had experience with their customer service team.

March will be my first try with Book of the Month Club.  What books do you think I should get?
