2018 Reading Challenge

Of all the websites on the Internet, the one that fuels my reading addiction the most is far and away GoodReads.  If you're reading this blog, you are most likely already familiar with this underappreciated gem.  For those who aren't, let me introduce you to your new best friend.

GoodReads is basically social networking for book lovers.  You can join online book clubs, find suggestions on what to read next, and see what your friends are currently reading.

One of my favorite features is their yearly reading challenge.  You set a goal of how many books you'd like to read in a year, post your progress, and see how your friends are doing with their goals.  There's good-natured fun to be had by all - except for me, who takes this opportunity to become competitive for the first time in my life. As a rule, I rarely care enough about anything to feel competitive.  Maybe I didn't play enough team sports as a child.  When it comes to the yearly reading challenge, all I can see is an opportunity to crush my competition (my friends).  Good-natured fun at its finest!

This year my goal is to read 35 books.  If you'd like to follow my challenge, I'll be posting the list of books I'm reading in the tab at the top of this page called "2018 Reading Challenge" and updating it as I finish books.  You can also look at the tab on the right side of the home page to see what percentage of my challenge is completed.

I'm assuming by now you've all signed up for a reading challenge, so I'll see you at the finish line!
